Marketing your Mortgage Business on LinkedIn – Tip 2 of 5

In my first mortgage marketing tip for LinkedIn, I recommended creating a group in order to have a target market you can communicate with over time.

What if you don’t have the time to create a group?

That brings me to my second mortgage marketing tip for LinkedIn – Participate in Relevant Groups

Notice, I used the word participate rather than join. The key is to not just find relevant groups to join, become active in order to raise the visibility of your profile.


Quick tips for participating in LinkedIn groups.

  1. Add your comments to discussions. 
    Make well thought out comments on discussions. Any group member who receives updates will see your comments.
  2. Share your relevant blog posts and articles with the group.
    If you’ve written a blog post you think members of a particular group will find useful, share it. Most pages have a social media button that enables you to share content with one click. A link to share information with you LinkedIn network is also on your google toolbar.
  3. Share relevant content written by other people.
    Come across an article or event you think your group members would like to see, share it?
  4. Start a popular discussion.
    Linkedin has a relatively new feature called Top Influencers this week. The list of top influencers shows up at the bottom right hand corner of the group page. It seems as if one of the ways to become a top influencer is to launch a discussion that generates a lot of comments. 

Homework: Brainstorm at least 1 LinkedIn group you can participate in to market your mortgage business.
